The International Higher Education Day in Vietnam 2017

The International Higher Education Day in Vietnam 2017 (IHED Vietnam 2017) hosted by The Vietnam International Education Development (VIED) under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) had taken place successfully with the participations of 9 Embassies and Consulate General; and nearly 50 international education institutions; and attracted more than 4,000 participants in both cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city on 8th and 9th April 2017.

Follow the success of the International Higher Education Day in Vietnam 2016 (IHED Vietnam 2016), IHED Vietnam 2017 event has continued to become the largest and most important international education event in 2017 with the goal of supporting students, researchers, lecturers, and international education collaboration managers to contact, exchange information, seek the scholarship opportunities as well as collaboration opportunities with reputable, high quality and high ranking universities in the world.

In the opening speech, VIED Director General Assoc. Prof. Pham Quang Hung said innovating and developing education and training was always the top goal in international integration and strengthen connections with the international partners.

Thousands of students registered participating in the IHED Vietnam 2017 in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city

IHED Vietnam 2017 also held Uni-Bridging Session which is connecting universities worldwide to Vietnamese institutions to promote transnational education activities such as joint-training programs, joint research collaboration, faculty/student exchanges or to the details of top-up or franchise programs. This activity had been received much support from both Vietnamese and international institutions because this session was essential to internationalize education.

This year VIED has changed the way of organizing this activity in a more specific and practical way through the Uni-Bridging in the form of parallel organization of nearly 20 one-to-one meetings within one hour, face-to-face meetings between Vietnamese and international institutions seeking partners for international cooperation in education and training. This is the first activity held in Vietnam with the scale of nearly 40 Vietnamese institutions, 18 foreign universities from Australia, UK, USA, Japan, Korea, Canada, Italia,…joined the registration. Particularly in Uni-Bridging in Hanoi, 29 official meetings had taken place between foreign universities and Vietnamese institutions.

Students, researchers and other participants were listening the presentations from representatives of embassies and consulates about government scholarship programs.

IHED Vietnam 2017 has attracted 45 international universities, 9 Embassies and Consulates, and 4 international organizations participating in the programs within the framework of this event. The total number of people registering and participating in the two-day event in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city was 4,700 in terms of 2,100 participants in Hanoi, and 2600 participants in Ho Chi Minh city.
